MUPSA Scholarship
The Murdoch University Postgraduate Students Association (MUPSA) in conjunction with the Murdoch University Guild of Students is offering low-income students the opportunity to apply for a $500 scholarship. This scholarship is designed to assist students who are currently completing postgraduate studies including the Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma, Masters and PhD courses.
Tax Exemption
If you are a full time student, this scholarship will be classed as tax exempt in most circumstances. However, if you are a part-time student, you will need to declare the scholarship as income. To confirm the exemption status, please check the Australian Tax Office website's scholarship tool. This can be found at www.ato.gov.au by putting scholarship into the search area, and selecting 'Is your scholarship taxable?'
Application Closing Dates
Applications for 2006 have closed. 2007 Applications will close in March 2007.
Eligibility
In order to be eligible for a MUPSA scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:1. Applicants must be a current Murdoch University Postgraduate student.
2. All questions on the application form must be answered
3. Applications will be assessed based upon the income, expenditure and financial details provided by yourself. Should your circumstances require further explanation and clarification, please attach a separate sheet.
4. Students who have been granted a Commonwealth Learning Scholarship, Murdoch Equity Scholarship, Guild scholarship, MURS, APA or other research scholarship either currently or in the last calendar year are ineligible for a MUPSA scholarship.
5. Students who own/receive income from rental properties are ineligible to apply.
6. You must provide proof of current enrolment (you can access this via myinfo).
7. You must provide evidence of academic 'good standing' within the university. This can be achieved through Myinfo printouts of your results for the last twelve months or providing copies of the last milestone report which must demonstrate satisfactory performance.
